TSD has been delivering z System Engineering services since the mid 90's. We focus on addressing the growing skills shortage in the System zEngineering arena. Like many Engineering roles, the System z conveyor belt stopped in the 80s and it needs to be restarted.
Whilst delivering z System related projects, consultancy and training projects, we frequently see the customer case frustrated at the lack of a coherent strategy to resolve this issue and believe our services and approach are a key resource in addressing this challenge. Because of our experience and contacts in the industry, we have relationships with many of the remaining quality zEngineers, we know the training requirements and we understand how zEngineers are developed.
Our approach is four fold:
- Resource Augmentation: satisfy the burgeoning demand for experienced zEngineers with a System z focused one-stop shop for customers and contractors. Thin overheads and direct customer relationships allows us to cut out much of the middle layer of process and reduce the cost involved. Our platform knowledge puts us in a position to fill requirements with exactly the right candidate
- Managed Services: deliver resource teams to support zEngineering requirements for customers that cannot develop the required talent in-house.
- Consulting: fill the gap created by recent industry departures within IBM and Customers, of the most experienced resources. We deliver high-end specialists to satisfy most System z implementation, architecture and strategic challenges.
- Knowledge & Skills: help customers to address the skills gaps caused by the serial under-investment of the last decade and bridge the knowledge gap between the new entrants to System z and the high levels of skill and knowledge needed to keep the System z ‘show on the road’. Our experience in delivering much of the high end training around Europe over the last 2 decades places us well to achieve this. In addition, we have been key in the few successful new starter programs for zEngineers. Most importantly, we were products of that process when we started our careers and remember how it is achieved.
